Dr. Trey Carey - "Have A ‘God Rest Ye Merry’ Christmas!" 12-3-17

In the modern services, We’ve begun our new Advent series, “Comfort & Joy”, by talking about one of the most popular (and most misunderstood) Christmas carols you’ll hear this Christmas season. The title of his sermon is “Have A ‘God Rest Ye Merry’ Christmas!” The scripture was 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17.

Rev. Cliff Wright - “The Man In The Camel-Hair Coat” 12-3-17

In the traditional service, this weeks scripture was Matthew 3:1-10 and the sermon was titled “The Man In The Camel-Hair Coat”.  John the Baptist doesn’t seem to be in the Christmas spirit.  He’s certainly not singing “Have A Holly Jolly Christmas”.  But here’s the deal – John the Baptist has something to say that we need to hear.

In the modern services, our scripture this week was John 15:4-9. We finished up our conversation about “Faith in Action”.  We’ve been talking about the fruit.  This week, we talked about the root!  We looked at the true foundation of all true giving: “Thanks Giving”.

Rev. Cliff Wright - “From Affirmation To Participation” 11-12-17

This week’s scripture passage is another one of my favorites.  It’s about the time Jesus asked Simon Peter if he loved him.  “Simon, son of John, do you love me?”  How would we answer that question?  It really is what Jesus wants to know.  Do we love him?  Simon Peter answered as I think most of us would answer.  He said, “Of course, I do.”  Jesus’ response to Simon Peter was interesting.  I think his response to us would be interesting as well and life-changing.  Our scripture is John 21:15-19.
